HOST is a work that translates the relationship between those who transmit and the reactions that gather around them on social media into a biological relationship between a host and parasitic organisms. On social media, countless responses such as likes, follows, shares, replies, and views accumulate around a single post or individual, and each response can generate further reactions. In this work, that process is visualized through organic forms resembling eggs and cells multiplying around a host. As the number of responses increases, the host expands and its presence becomes more pronounced. Yet as this multiplication continues, the balance of the entire system begins to collapse. Growth and necrosis emerge at the same time, allowing expansion and deterioration to progress simultaneously within a single organism. The relationship between host and parasite here is not simply one of dominance and submission. The sender expands through the reactions of others, while those reactions continue to gather because the host exists. Through this mutual dependence and continuous multiplication, the relationship gradually develops into a system that exceeds the intentions of any single individual. HOST expresses the structure of social media as something that grows through attention, becomes distorted through excessive connection, and at times begins to consume itself, using biological images of proliferation and decay.
